Trainee Perspective

Comments from our trainee cohort:

"It truly has been the most amazing year and choosing this course the best decision I have made!"

“I feel like a teacher. Through my intense placement within a Primary SEND school, I have gained confidence in delivering lessons to students. Whether I am working with the whole class, a small group or 1:1, I understand different SEN and adapt my teaching to this. I never thought I would be in a position where I have achieved employment for September and I have planned and taught lessons to a variety of needs.”

“The Chadsgrove training days have been brilliant. Everyone has been so knowledgeable and engaging even on zoom.”

“The training provided by Chadsgrove was always engaging, informative, relevant and had a great variety! The amount of information delivered from professionals was amazing!”

“I have taken so much from this course; I cannot begin to explain. I have learnt so much”

I would like to say a massive thank you. This has been such a well-run course and I have loved every minute of being a part of it.

Georgia Treglown
Chadsgrove/University of Birmingham Primary PCGE with SEND

"The Primary PCGE (Special Educational Needs) course has been perfect for me. After working in a school for one year after my undergraduate degree, the course appealed to me because of the “on the job” training element to it.

Additionally, it was one of the only courses in the country which allowed me to complete the majority of my training in an SEN school. I also completed one placement in a mainstream school which I believe helped me to develop into a well-rounded and flexible practitioner.

I have been fully supported by both my University tutors and my mentors in school who have worked together effectively. As well as the teaching element, the course included specialist training in school covering various areas of SEN and university sessions covering national curriculum subjects and professional development.

I cannot fault the course and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to gain a PGCE and develop a teaching career within SEN. I have also made lifelong friends along the way!"

Georgia trained in 2015-16 and is now not only a qualified teacher, but also one of our Lead Mentors for the PCGE and undertaking leadership qualifications.
